Lawrence Britvan

  • Lawrence Britvan is the Managing Director/Group Head of Capital Markets at Hodges Ward Elliott. Lawrence joined the company in 2016 to expand the company’s Capital Markets platform across all markets and asset classes. Prior to joining HWE, Lawrence was a Senior Managing Director at CCRE where he was a member of the senior management team that oversaw the development and operation of all parts of the business.

  • Prior to that, from 2005 to 2009, Lawrence was a senior member of the Real Estate Finance Group at Credit Suisse. In this capacity, Lawrence managed the origination, pricing, structuring, closing, syndication and securitization of large fixed and floating rate first mortgages and mezzanine loans throughout the U.S., Latin America and Asia. Lawrence was also critical to the group’s real estate equity investments and asset management business, including the underwriting, investment and development of hotel and casino projects throughout the United States.

  • From 1996 to 2004, Lawrence was an attorney solely advising on real estate financing matters. Lawrence graduated from the State University of New York at Albany and received his J.D. from Cardozo Law School.

Michael Britvan

  • Michael Britvan is a Managing Director in Hodges Ward Elliott’s Capital Markets Group. Michael joined the firm in 2020 to help lead and expand the firm’s loan sale advisory initiative.
  • Prior to joining HWE, Michael was a Managing Director at Mission Capital Advisors where he oversaw the valuation and trading of performing, sub-performing and non-performing commercial, consumer residential, business, and equipment loans in both the United States and Latin America. Over the course of his career, Michael has traded more than $15 billion of loans on behalf of financial institutions including banks, insurance companies, special servicers, funds and government clients.
  • Michael earned dual degrees in Philosophy Politics & Law and History from Binghamton University.

Pete Fehlman

  • Pete Fehlman a Managing Director in the Capital Markets practice at Hodges Ward Elliott.  He specializes in institutional-grade hotel and resort property transactions throughout North America, Latin America, and the Caribbean, including debt and equity placements.
  • Mr. Fehlman joined the firm in August 2019.  Prior to HWE, he spent three years at JLL Capital Markets as part of the HFF acquisition.  Prior to this, Mr. Fehlman worked for 10 years at GE Capital where he played a key role in the re-launch of the hospitality lending platform.
  • Mr. Fehlman earned a B.A. in Finance from the University of Iowa.

Brett Katz

  • Brett Katz is a Managing Director and Head of West Coast Capital Markets at Hodges Ward Elliott.  Brett specializes in debt and equity placement across all real estate asset classes and products including construction, bridge, permanent, and structured finance.

  • Prior to joining HWE in 2018, Brett was a Senior Managing Director at Cantor Commercial Real Estate where he was co-head of securitization and capital markets and responsible for the operation and execution of all parts of the commercial real estate lending business. From 2002 to 2009, Brett was a member of the Real Estate Finance & Securitization Group at Credit Suisse. In this capacity, Brett led underwriting, structuring, securitization, distribution and execution of $10+ billion in large loan transactions, across all asset classes throughout the U.S., Caribbean and Latin America.

  • Brett began his career as an Analyst at Bear Stearns within the Investment Banking Department’s Leverage Finance Group. Brett is a graduate of Cornell University with a BS in Policy Analysis and Management.

Michael Straw

  • Michael Straw is a Director in Hodges Ward Elliott’s Capital Markets group. Michael joined the company in 2016 to help form the Capital Markets platform with Group Head Lawrence Britvan and is responsible for all aspects of deal management and execution.

  • Prior to joining HWE, Michael was an Associate in the M&A group at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, LLP, where he advised on over $40 billion of transactions across a variety of industries, including hospitality, gaming and REITs.

  • Michael graduated magna cum laude from Tufts University and received his J.D. from Columbia Law School, where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone scholar.

Jordan Kirkbride

  • Jordan Kirkbride is a Vice President in the Capital Markets practice at Hodges Ward Elliott.  He specializes in debt and equity advisory services across all asset classes, territories and transaction types.
  • Mr. Kirkbride joined the firm in May 2018.  Prior to HWE, he was a Vice President with Colony Capital, Inc., where he acquired and/or financed over $3 billion of assets across a variety of property types for the company’s balance sheet and managed investment vehicles.  Prior to this, he spent more than four years at Cantor Commercial Real Estate, where he originated, structured and securitized over $14 billion of conduit and large-loan CMBS.
  • Mr. Kirkbride graduated from the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan, where he received a Bachelor’s of Business Administration with a Concentration in Finance and a Minor in Economics.

David Auer

  • David Auer is an Associate in Hodges Ward Elliott’s Hotel Investment Advisory and Capital Markets Groups. David specializes in financial analysis and underwriting, transaction management, and the preparation of offering memoranda and pitch materials.
  • David joined the firm in September 2019. Prior to HWE, David was an Audit Associate with EY. During his three-year tenure, he performed extensive audit procedures and analytical analysis for a diverse client base of both public and private companies.
  • David graduated from the University of Kansas with a B.S. in Accounting and Finance, an M.S. in Accounting, and was a five-year member of the Men’s Golf Team. He is also a Certified Public Accountant.

Dylan Brandt

  • Dylan Brandt is an Associate in Hodges Ward Elliott’s Capital Markets group. Dylan specializes in underwriting and transaction management for debt and equity placements for institutional commercial real estate transactions throughout North America.

  • Dylan joined the company in 2017. Prior to joining HWE, Dylan was the Director of Marketing at the Moinian Group where he oversaw marketing and leasing initiatives for branding, advertising and strategic positioning of the Moinian Group’s 20 million square foot portfolio.

  • Dylan graduated cum laude from Tulane University’s A.B. Freeman School of Business and received his Master’s in Real Estate Finance from NYU Schack.

Jack Basalari

  • Jack Basalari is an Analyst in Hodges Ward Elliott’s Capital Markets Group. Joining the firm in September 2019, Mr. Basalari is primarily responsible for financial analysis and the preparation of offering memoranda and pitch materials.

  • Prior to HWE, Jack was an associate for Green Street Advisors’ Real Estate Analytics division. During his one-year tenure there, he analyzed macro and demographical trends by market, assisted in launching Atlas (a new mapping and analytical tool) and built complex financial models using proprietary data to develop market investment recommendations.

  • Jack graduated from the University of Southern California (“USC”) with a B.S. in Real Estate Development and a minor in Business Finance. At USC, Jack was a kicker/punter for the Trojan football team, and he continues to be an active member of the Lambda Chi fraternity, the Marshall Real Estate Finance Association and the Trojan Real Estate Association.

Kyle Cohen

  • Kyle Cohen is an Analyst in Hodges Ward Elliott’s Capital Markets Group. Kyle joined the firm in 2019 and is primarily responsible for the financial analysis and underwriting, transaction management, and the preparation of offering memoranda for debt and equity placements for institutional commercial real estate transactions throughout North America.
  • Prior to joining HWE, Kyle was a Senior Analyst at Delos in their hospitality group, managing the redevelopment and rebranding of hotel guest rooms and meeting spaces to support a wellness narrative. Kyle graduated from the University of South Carolina in 2018 with a B.S. in Finance.
